India and Southeast Asian Cooperation in Maritime Security across the Indian Ocean: A Concise Picture: by Ahan Basu

Ahan Basu in his paper explores the cooperation between India and Southeast Asian nations with regard  to maritime security across the Indian Ocean.   After assessing all the preferable options he concludes that it is imperative to increase ties with ASEAN as the future seems fairly buoyant for the region’s economic development . He also feels that the Indian Ocean region has to be effectively, adequately and wisely exploited for the purpose. By ways of conclusion, he argues, that a world free of power equations and struggle is definitely a utopia, but one with lessened impact  is a presentable option for securing cooperation and that is what the Southeast Asian Nations along with India must try todo, ie.  to decrease their dependence on external forces, gradually drifting towards regional self – sufficiency.
