The Centre for Studies in International Relations and Development (CSIRD), Kolkata in collaboration with Institute of Foreign Policy Studies (IFPS), University of Calcutta and with the supp
ort of the Investments and Technology Promotion (ITP) Division, Ministry of External Affairs, organised the 11thK2K Forum (Kolkata to Kunming Forum) – a civilian initiative between India and China. CSIRD acts as the secretariat to this only civilian initiative between India and China that began in 2002 and aims at facilitating economic and cultural interaction between West Bengal and Yunnan. This year, the Forum was held in Kolkata during November 23-24, 2015. A high level delegation headed by H.E. Gao Shuxun, Senior Advisor (Vice Governor) to the People’s Government of Yunnan traveled to attend the 11th K2K Forum. As part of the Forum, a one day discussion on various aspects of sub-regional cooperation was held at Hyatt Regency on 24 November. Mr. K. Nagraj Naidu, Director, Investments & Technology Promotion Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India was the special guest at the Forum. Prof Abhirup Sarkar, Member, West Bengal Development Council headed the Indian Delegation. The presence of Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of West Bengal, Shri Bratya Basu, Hon’ble Mayor of Kolkata, Shri Sovan Chatterjee and senior bu
reaucrats like Shri Alapon Bandyopadhayay, Principal Secretary, Department of Transport greatly enhanced the significance and prestige of the Forum. Senior academics, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs were part of the delegations from both countries. The Kunming week was inaugurated at Hyatt Regency during the Forum. The Mayor of Kolkata and his team interacted with the delegation from Kunming Municipal government to promote the sister city relationship between Kolkata and Kunming. The interactions were followed by the signing of the Kolkata Declaration.
